Navigation
Navigating the Site
The HTML Weekly Ad site is navigable in several different ways. The site has been particularly designed with screen readers in mind*. If you're not using a mouse, the site is also accessible by keyboard navigation.
*The screen reader used in development and testing was JAWS 9
Headings
Each major section of the site is described by a heading. These range in importance from 1 to 6. Not all headings might be available for a particular page.
Headings Instructions
- In JAWS, to generate a list of headings press "Insert" and "F6". Use this list to navigate to a heading.
- In JAWS, to tab through all the headings in a section continue to press "H".
- In JAWS, to jump to a specific heading in a hierarchical order, use the number keys. For example, if you're in a section and press "3", you may toggle through all the level 3 headings (if any exist).
Skip Navigation
- You can bypass the navigation at any time by using the Access Key "S". Using this will jump you to the main content. The main content starts with a title of the page being viewed followed by any page navigation that might exist. The entire key map and use of these are described in more detail below.
- This link is also available as the first item tabbed to of any page of the site.
